About this place
Tucked into a residential pocket of Kisshoin in Kyoto's Minami Ward, Petit Spoon is a neighborhood yoshoku restaurant that fills up quickly during the midday rush. Open for lunch from 11:30 to 14:00, it draws a steady stream of local residents and workers from nearby businesses. The dining room offers both counter seating and tables, accommodating solo diners as easily as small groups.
The core of the midday menu revolves around rotating A, B, and C combination lunch sets. The wallet-friendly Lunch A might pair chicken cutlet with fried white fish alongside tartar sauce. Stepping up to the B or C sets brings richer plates loaded with savory hamburger steaks, beef cutlets, plump fried shrimp, or seasonal fried oysters, all served set-meal style with rice and miso soup. The deep, glossy richness of the demi-glace sauce pairs effortlessly with the crisp fried items and steamed white rice.
Beyond the daily sets, the kitchen prepares a broad repertoire of Western-style staples, including shrimp cutlet curry, pork cutlet curry, beef croquettes, and beef sirloin steak. Diners ordering a meal can round it off with an add-on coffee, making for a relaxed pause before the afternoon resumes. A few dedicated parking spots in front of the shop also make it a convenient stop when traveling by car.
